Apple has launched new MacBook Pro models with touchscreen OLED displays, Dynamic Island and M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, marking a major change for its professional laptops. Starting at Rs 3,49,900 in India, the 14-inch and 16-inch models offer touch gestures, up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness and claimed battery life of up to 24 hours.

Apple has introduced a new MacBook Pro with a touchscreen, bringing a different way to interact with its professional laptops. Called the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, the new models combine tandem OLED screens with M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, alongside a lighter design and Dynamic Island.

Price and availability in India

The 14-inch model starts at Rs 3,49,900, while the 16-inch version starts at Rs 4,09,900. Pre-orders are open, with availability beginning November 9. Both sizes offer M5 Pro and M5 Max options, with prices varying by configuration.

Touchscreen and OLED display

The biggest change is the display. The laptops feature 14.2-inch and 16.3-inch tandem OLED panels, supporting touch gestures such as scrolling, pinching to zoom and drawing directly on screen.

Apple lists a 10–120Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness and support for P3 and Adobe RGB colour spaces. Dynamic Island brings controls for Spotlight, Live Activities and other functions to the top of the display.

Performance and connectivity

The new models use M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Apple claims up to 24 hours of battery life, depending on configuration and usage. Connectivity includes three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, an SDXC card slot, MagSafe 3, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.

Different from the M6 MacBook Pro

These models are separate from the 14-inch M6 MacBook Pro announced earlier this week, which retains a Liquid Retina XDR display without touch support. Buyers therefore have a choice between the newer base M6 processor and the higher-priced touchscreen models with M5 Pro or M5 Max.
